LOCATION:
El Panecillo is a statue of 200 meters high in a
volcanic- origin. The statue is located between the Southern and Central part
of Quito. Its peak has an elevation of 3,016 meters above the sea level. The
original name was Yavirac. There was a temple which the Indians used to adore
the Sun, the temple was destroyed by the Spanish conquistadores. The street
that goes to the Panecillo is Melchor Aymerich.
